A busy day week in the football world as final cuts of players who will make teams trades and teams signings players to their practice squads. The regular football season is about to begin. However here is some last minute thoughts to share with you as I am preparing for my draft to help you win your league. I am also pleased to let you know that I made the fantasy baseball playoffs and will keep you posted next week on how I do. Good luck to all of you and have a fantastic draft and a great fun filled joyful successful football season.
Last Minute Draft Tips
1. Prepare for the fantasy football draft with a little practice by doing mock drafts. Now located in Yahoo. I think its best to choose your draft position for your mock draft for practice. If you are in many leagues I suggest you do one early middle and late. This way you will get a quick idea of who might be available or what players the owners might reach for early. Also you can be made aware of a player that you never heard of that you can investigate before your own draft.
2. Review your leagues scoring point system.
3. Know the new managers in your league, and against whom you’re drafting. If you know a player that they like you can trade later with him later in the year.
4. Do not chase kickers and defenses too early the last 2 rounds are the best. Having the best kicker will not have a huge effect on your fantasy football record. The same goes for defenses. Do not even think about drafting one until all of your position players are filled.
5. Do not talk to your friends about your strategy before the draft news travels fast like the game of telephone.
6. Do the best you can to stick to your draft strategy. Try not to reach for players for at least the first third of your draft. Do not panic during the draft chasing players especially tight ends.
7. Do not draft a player just because he plays on your favorite team. This can happen in an auction league where guys will spend all or most of their dollars on a single player.
8. Remember bye weeks and use when the player is off as tie breaker when two players are similar.
9. Look at the injury report and update your rankings before your actual draft.
10. As you move into later rounds remember that team owners get tired stay focused until the end. Draft as many running backs as you can.

Payton Manning doubtful for Sunday’s opener. He should drop in your draft but buyer beware.
