Create Your Peaceful Day

What are you doing for fun each day? I love spring, the changing weather, family barbecues, walking without layers of clothing, and feeling the fresh air. Commit to starting each day with a positive thought and doing one simple thing that gives you joy and creates a peaceful feeling so you experience an uplifting, peaceful day.

Changing your mood and creating a peaceful day gives you the power of your life. You find you are no longer a victim of your circumstances. Your mind is powerful, and changing your mood or attitude requires that you align your thoughts and manage your emotions. I do this by using my imagination as a bridge between what I’m experiencing and my desire. What I picture in my mind is my happy experiences or what I want to happen in the future.

One of my favorite scenarios is to picture myself on a beautiful sunny day, lying on a lounge chair, listening to calming music while reading a good book. I visualize cruising, seeing new places, laughing, smiling, and having fun with my family. You can do this by simply closing your eyes, sitting quietly, remembering your good times, and using those times to change your thoughts.

In addition to visualization, I find that exercise works wonders. I usually use my stationary bike or do yoga and find that any stress or anxiety I feel vanishes. Moving your body is a great way to clear your mind and help you focus on solutions. In addition to keeping you focused on the positive, moving your body has many long-term health benefits. When you create a routine that you follow, moving your body and focusing on positive thoughts, you will find that your moods will be more constant, which will help you create a peaceful day.

You cannot control what challenges may come your way. However, you can stay true to yourself because you are in charge of your mood and attitude, not letting circumstances be in control.

Here are some other tips that may help you:

  • Make time to do something you love each day. Start a side project that inspires you.
  • Do a good deed for someone. Making another person’s day helps create an uplifting day and adds joy that reaps long-term benefits.
  • Enlist the support of a coach – Having a coaching call can be inspiring. Every time I do this, I learn something and feel inspired and empowered.
  • Schedule a massage each month. You deserve it. Add soothing music, aromatherapy oils, and a candle lit in the background. Each of these engages all of your senses. Massage has helped me to calm down, let my body go, and clear my thoughts.
  • Increase your happiness by practicing gratitude. Write three or more things you are grateful for every day. Try it and see the positive shift you will feel.
  • When something happens that is out of your control, let go of the anger. It doesn’t help. Take time to process it and let it go.
  • Pace yourself. Take a break during the day to relax, feel rested, and energized to improve your focus. Schedule an afternoon off. Create one new positive habit as part of your daily routine.
