11 Simple Keys for More Well-Being

Life is hectic, no doubt, and if you’ve been stressed lately you may wonder what it would be like for you to step away from some of your daily responsibilities. That would be a dream come true, and as hard as you work, we know you deserve to have some freedom every now and then. It’s not so easy to pull away, especially if you carry a heavy work load or hold a leadership position, However, the return on your time away investment will pay big dividends in the long run when you take time off from your busy schedule. That’s why it’s important for you to make time for yourself and enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you are at the point where you find yourself postponing your vacation yet again, then now is the time to take a few moments and create a plan to make your time away a reality. Though it’s not been an easy lesson for me to learn, I’m happier when taking some well deserved me-time. There is no better time than now to invest in your well-being. Time off will help balance out your work schedule and you will return feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and well rested.

Having learned my lesson, I now schedule time off during the year. Last month we had a fabulous trip to Aruba, the “One Happy Island” at the Casa Del Mar Resort which has blossomed into my home away from home. This sunny and gorgeous 21 mile long island is located in the southern part of the Caribbean Sea. Needless to say. we had a wonderful time with family and friends, and meeting interesting people and making new friends. Being able to step away from my daily responsibilities was exactly what I needed.  I admit it took a few days to adjust from my home routine into a vacation state of mind mode.

One area I still struggle with is in clearing my mind from my work responsibilities so I can fully enjoy my time when away. There was no need for me to worry, since everything worked out while I was away. Each year gets better and requires less adjustment time since learning the importance of creating a solid preparation plan before leaving. This includes the help of a good support team and also trusting that everything will work out. Doing so has made all the difference in ensuring an amazing vacation experience and a plan that I still benefit from upon my return. It’s been a process and all part of growing. Being kind to myself as I’m decompressing has made a big difference.

For me, Aruba has been an ideal place to visit since there are many fun activities to do and it allows plenty of time to truly relax. It only took a day and a half to achieve vacation mind mode, and after clearing my mind I wrote a short simple poem to inspire you if you are having trouble letting go and trusting the process.

Embrace You

Dream it

Believe it

Claim it

Keep your dreams alive

Decide to commit and watch yourself thrive

It’s possible to do what you set your mind to
Believe in your ability investing in you

Step through your challenges that you encounter
Your strength within gets you through any setbacks that may occur

New habits are possible to learn
Your growth happens at every turn

Start action towards what lights your fire now
Don’t overthink about the steps of how

Trust your wealth of knowledge you know
Be courageous say yes, and let go

Do what you are passionate about today
You have the power to achieve what you say

Focus building a positive mindset on your journey
Be patient taking time for you, sit quiet, and be

Claim your success right now
Open your heart and listen to how
Create well-being, and stress will cease
Replace with happiness, love, and inner peace

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you are feeling relaxed and at ease. Not only was I able to tap into my creative side but an incredible opportunity occurred when I was away. While reading the Aruba Today newspaper, I realized there were no articles on wealth or well-being. As you all know I love to write, and so I asked some of my Aruba friends. They connected me with the editor and chief of the newspaper. We met a few days later, and I was invited to be a regular columnist for Aruba Today.  Here is the link to my first article that was published on 8/23/19.

The doors that open up when you do step away for me-time could just be what you need in order to continue your inner growth. Yes, work has plenty of its own rewards but hard work must be balanced out with time off.  My vacation gave me a renewed sense of peace and tranquility.  I’d like for you to experience this feeling. Start today and invest in your well-being by using the following insights to help you along the way.

11 Simple Keys for More Well-Being

  1. Start your day choosing to be positive by filling your mind with positive thoughts.
  2. Surround yourself with optimistic supportive people.
  3. Create a daily routine that gives you pleasure and allows you to do what you love.
  4. Focus on one project or goal at a time. Giving 100% of your attention to what you are doing. This will be more productive, much better than multitasking.
  5. Be gentle on yourself if you get off track from your plan. Start again where you are.
  6. Do something you have never done before. Go out of your comfort zone and enjoy the journey of your growth.
  7. Choose a healthy lifestyle. Eat healthier, being mindful of what foods you are eating. Exercise and create a simple routine to move your body.
  8. Help others. Sharing is caring.
  9. Stop worrying about what other people say and think. Believe and trust in you.
  10. Focus on what gives you pleasure and fun.
  11. Learn to say no, sidestepping as much as possible. Make it a point each day to do less of what you don’t value.

Your daily schedule should include experiences which allow you to enjoy life and have fun. If you still find it difficult to make time for yourself then stop what you’re doing and add a vacation plan to your calendar right now. Make it a priority.
