Invest Now In Your Well-Being

Have you thought about taking time off from your busy schedule but decided against it? Maybe you held back because you thought it wasn’t the right time or were fearful things would fall in complete disarray with your absence. If you are at the point where you have spent too many years putting off a well-deserved vacation then now is the time to start enjoying yourself and investing in your well-being. Time off will help you to feel rejuvenated and permit you to let go of the stress and struggles you might be experiencing. Recently, I returned from a three-week trip far away from my fast-paced lifestyle in New York to being at my home away from home which is Aruba’s “One Happy Island” staying at the Casa Del Mar Resort. Needless to say, it was an amazing experience that I’m still benefiting from. I highly recommend if you are unable to get away longer than a week that you take a mini two or three-day vacation. It will do wonders in boosting your creativity and problem-solving abilities. The time away will be well spent creating your own home away from home.

In case you have never been, the island of Aruba is only about 21 miles and is located in the southern part of the Caribbean Sea. Aruba may be small but it’s an ideal place to visit since there are many fun activities to do and it allows plenty of time for you to truly relax and clear your mind.

Years ago it was a struggle for me to leave and really unplug, When I did take time off, I would bring loads of work with me all the while telling myself I was going to catch up on things and get ahead of the wave. What I discovered was that I was in paradise working and not living and enjoying all the beauty around me. I had plenty of anxiety surrounding the idea that I thought I had to be engaged and plugged in or I was going to miss something. Then it hit me that if I was going to be my best self, it was up to me to make the necessary changes that would allow me to fully enjoy my time on and off work. In order to ease my anxiety, I took a proactive approach and decided to plan early to streamline a portion of my processes before I went away. It was this shift in my thinking that finally allowed me to leave with my mind at ease knowing my clients were all taken care of because I created a solid plan before leaving for vacation. A big pay off from pre-planning and what made me even happier was that the stock market trended higher while I was away. What a great lesson in letting go since I now vacation without guilt and fully enjoy my time away. The shift has made all the difference in that I now appreciate being able to catch up with our Aruba friends and share priceless experiences with few distractions, and it has been especially nice to spend time with my family having fun together.

One of my favorite memories was at a birthday celebration with about 15 of us singing old popular songs in the pool. It was a blast! I’ve also been able to enjoy 9 classes of chair yoga (which always sets the tone for my day), reading for fun in my lounge chair, walking on the beach without interruption, listening to the birds sing in the morning, long dinners with loved ones, weekly deep tissue massages, high energy casino time, and watching the sunset on an evening cruise. The best part about each of these activities has to be when I meet new people. It’s always fun to learn where people are from and discovering what you have in common. By the end of the three weeks, I can’t help but feel an incredible renewed sense of peace and tranquility. I would miss out on all of this if I didn’t take time for my well-being and I’d like for you to experience all of this as well.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you are feeling relaxed and at ease. Whenever you hesitate to take time for yourself or are  feeling overwhelmed click here to watch my one-minute video from Aruba as I talk about how I get things done when feeling too busy and have no time:
