Simple Tips to Experience Inner Peace

Do you want to experience peace? It can happen when you go after your dreams, goals, and desires free of struggle and stress. I’m fortunate to have experienced the feeling of inner peace through many years of coaching and consistent effort. It took time, but I kept moving forward by making life changes that enabled me to focus more and commit to steadily increasing my level of inner peace. These changes have had a positive ripple effect and are well worth the time and effort.

We often get caught up in small, unimportant events that only distract us from our journey toward inner peace. It’s not too late to create change within your life. It’s possible to develop new daily habits to live a healthier and more peaceful lifestyle. By embracing experiences and not rushing the process, you learn to accept yourself as you go.

You will also discover that the right people show up on your journey when the time is right. It’s never too early or too late to begin your journey toward experiencing more inner peace. So, relax, clear your mind, and see what unfolds. Believing and trusting that everything will work out at the perfect time takes away the pressure and allows inner peace to blossom.

You can also experience more inner peace when you prioritize your well-being. Everyone needs some time for relaxation and to enjoy a moment of stillness. This can be challenging in our day-to-day responsibilities but keeping our minds and body in alignment is necessary. There are many ways we can choose to relax. For example, some people like music, and others prefer taking a nap, meditation, or walking. The list can go on and on when looking for ways to calm the wandering mind.

Seeing yourself as worthy will shift the view you have of yourself in a positive manner and open you up to new experiences. Your physical and mental well-being will also see a boost when you invest in your personal growth. By strengthening your mindset, you will be well on your way to a life filled with joy, happiness, and love.

One great tip to help relax your wandering mind is to stop long enough for a short breathing exercise. The steps are easy to follow and can be done almost anywhere.

To start, follow these simple steps:

  • Sit or lie down
  • Slowly count to five while you breathe in through your nose and hold your breath.
  • Count to five again while breathing out slowly through your mouth.
  • Repeat three times and feel a shift in you.

Deep breathing is an effortless way to change the chemical balance in your brain and will help calm you down. Try it for yourself and see. Boost your inner peace by taking the next 10-15 minutes and doing something calming. Use these moments to reconnect with your mind, body, and soul. We all need a bit of calm in our lives. Take charge and create yours.

Permit yourself to be you.

There is pressure and outside expectations to be more, but when you realize you are enough, it’s a gift and soothing to your soul. What you do matters, and remember that your efforts are good enough, and you’ve done the best you can. Trust yourself and listen to your heart. Doing so will empower and encourage you to stay true to yourself by simply being you.

Living life on your terms with the understanding that time, patience, and perseverance are three keys to success can be a liberating experience. Once you start, you will feel freed and on the path toward achieving your heart’s desires as you follow your dreams. Give yourself some grace in knowing whatever you put out in the world is good enough because it came from you. Here is how I define success.

“Success is creating a healthy, wealthy, balanced, inspired lifestyle while living a life filled with love, happiness, fun, and an abundance of inner peace.” ~Bonnie Gortler

Another lesson I learned over the years is how short life is. Some of us find out too late, but if you can learn this early, you are already ahead of most people. Allow yourself to live your life fully. After losing my mom to cancer, I found myself holding my emotions inside for years, feeling numb, and not knowing how to express what was going on inside. After a while, I realized it was time to create change, get out of my way, and go after my dreams. It was a process.

After years of reflection and inner work, I now know that I had gone through those dark days for a reason and that there is more to life than just going through the motions. There comes a time in most people’s lives when it becomes clear to do it for ourselves. Learning to embrace change can open your life to new experiences and opportunities. Life has so much to offer. You deserve to be happy.

Can you recall an incident that shaped your life and caused you to shut down? I remember how it felt to be sad and closed off. I thought you had to yell to be heard. Even to the point of sometimes screaming at the top of my lungs to get attention, I would yell at others only to my detriment. I yearned to have my voice heard, to feel peaceful instead of nervous, anxious, and depressed. I was not in a good state of mind and didn’t know what to do next. However, I did know in my heart that something had to change.

“Know that everything will happen at just the right time, at just the right place, with just the right people.” Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

My willingness to find answers has led me on a path of self-discovery. Through being open, I found coaches to walk me through the process of personal growth and development. From those steps, the healing process began. It took time, but I finally learned that it is possible to speak with a soft voice and be fully heard and understood. The best part is that I even discovered that you often get better results when you do. When I started learning about myself as an individual, I soon discovered that I was more than my job (what a shock this revelation was). I also learned that putting my needs first is OK.

When I learned the importance of self-care, it was as if a fire lit up inside that helped me feel like a new person. I was energized, thriving, and filled with the desire to grow even more. I committed myself wholeheartedly even though others didn’t understand. At that moment, I realized my journey of well-being truly began. It was as if something had clicked, and I was on a new path of healthy living. After making healthier choices, I had no more pain in my legs and a more muscular fit body. Both of which was motivation enough for me to keep going.

You can learn to do the same, even if you are unsure how things will all turn out. Stay strong and vigilant if you find yourself going through the motions and doing the same things repeatedly. It can be challenging, but over time you see your strength and tenacity will shine. As you learn to process your emotions in a healthier manner, you will find ways to keep going without giving up.       Here are some tips to get you started:
