Create a Relaxing, Uplifting, Motivating Day

When was the last time you created time to relax and enjoy quiet time? Sometimes when there are many day-to-day responsibilities, you may be challenged to find a bit of “you” time within a given day. It is, however, important to keep our minds and bodies in sync with supporting one another.

There are many ways you can choose to relax and quiet your mind. For example, some people do so with music or at home with a movie, some journal, nap, meditate, or may enjoy a night out with friends. Then others prefer to do something physical such as working out, yoga, a Zumba class, or walking around their neighborhood. The list can go on and on when looking for ways to calm the wandering mind. The main point is to make sure you are making the time to do so.

We all have busy schedules, and what I’ve found helpful and easy to incorporate are short breathing exercises. You can do them anywhere; taking only a short amount of time, and they are a wonderful way to help relax and calm your mind. Deep breathing changes the chemical balance in your brain to help bring about a sense of tranquility within your body and mind. Adding this to your current self-care routine can do a lot for your overall health, and we all need a bit of serenity in our lives.

To start, follow these simple steps:

  • Sit or lie down.
  • Slowly count to five while you breathe in through your nose. Hold your breath for a moment and release.
  • Count to five again while breathing out slowly through your mouth.
  • Repeat three times and feel a shift in your energy.

Another helpful way to add peace and harmony to your life is to commit to calm, positive thoughts each day. Calming thoughts will create a peaceful balance in your mind, body, and spirit. You have the power to work through your challenges. Sometimes we get focused only on what is wrong. The secret is to focus on what is going well. Over time this practice will allow you to create a relaxing, motivating, inspired, and enjoyable day.

When I feel calm and focus on positive thoughts, my day goes much smoother, and yours can too. Choose a convenient time today to do something calming feels good, and creates a sense of fun and enjoyment.

When you create an uplifting day, your mood will change, and you will add happiness and joy. You are no longer a victim of your circumstances. Your mind is powerful, aligning your thoughts and controlling your emotions using your imagination as a bridge between what is occurring and what you want to happen in the future. For example, one of my favorite scenarios is to picture myself on a beautiful sunny day, lying on a lounge chair in Aruba, and listening to calming music while reading a good book. You can do this too, by remembering your good times and noticing how your attitude changes.

In time you will see how your thoughts become more positive so you can handle what is before you with ease and the least amount of stress possible. Visualizing something good and focusing on the positive works wonders and is a terrific way to clear your mind and begin to focus on solutions, thereby helping you create an uplifting day.

Here are some other tips for you:

  • Enlist the help of your coach – Having a coaching call creates a shift in your thinking and inspires and empowers you to break through resistance, so you achieve your goals
  • Get a massage and add it to your monthly routine. Soothing music and aromatherapy oils, with a candle, lit in the background, are relaxing, reduce stress, and quiet the mind. I love massages. It’s now been 26 years since my first massage.
  • Do a good deed for someone. I have found that making another person’s day helps create an uplifting day for the other person and you.

What do you think? Is there a strategy listed above that you will implement to create more uplifting, inspiring days for yourself? Each day is a gift, and we often, allow our responsibilities and obligations to overshadow our need for self-care. Take time and pause long enough to see the miracles around you without letting days slip away. As you become happier and embrace each day, you will create a relaxing, uplifting, and satisfying life filled with peace and joy.
